Entry requirements – Grade 5 or BTEC M2 in engineering/design and technology and 5s in maths.
A Level Design and Technology has been developed to be a creative and critical thinking qualification that gives students the opportunity to develop a high level of practical and theoretical skills, the confidence to succeed in engineering and creative industries and to unleash their creativity around a user-centred, iterative design process. They will gain an understanding of what it means to be a real-life product designer, working with clients and delivering solutions to deadlines. Alongside this, they will develop the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers. This qualification will prepare students to launch their engineering or design career into industry or further academic study at university.
H406 Product Design
This course requires learners to critically think, and problem solve within a creative environment, enabling them to develop and make prototype products that solve real world problems. Within this route, learners will explore materials and components. They will analyse modern consumer products that are designed to meet identified consumer needs, their design and manufacture.
