Today, the eager wait is over as post 16 students at Tuxford Academy, part of Diverse Academies Trust, celebrated their A level results.
Overall, students achieved an A level pass rate of 98%, with 50% of students gaining an A* to A equivalent grades.
The students’ excitement was evident as they now look forward to their new journeys ahead, which include university, apprenticeships, gap years and employment.
One of this year’s top performers was Elizabeth Thornton, who achieved A*A*A, grades in maths, biology and chemistry. She is heading to the University of East Anglia to study medicine. She said: “I’m so excited to be going to university!”
Congratulations are also due to Rowan Cormack, who achieved A*A*AA in English literature, history, German and Spanish. She is going to study English literature and German at Bristol University. Reflecting on her success, Rowan said, “I am very relieved that all the hard work has paid off.”
Further congratulations were in order for Dan Kay, who achieved A*A*A in his A levels. He is going to the University of Liverpool to study medicine. Reflecting on his achievement, he said: “I am so happy with my results.”
Sam Cook celebrated this morning after gaining impressive AAA grades in geography, politics and sociology. He is heading to the Durham University to study politics and international relations. He commented: “I am really happy to be moving on and going to Durham.”
It’s a double celebration for twins Freddie and Charlie Maitland! Freddie achieved A*A B in geography, maths and further maths. Freddie is going to Newcastle University to study maths and commented that: “Although it wasn’t my first choice, I am very happy to be going to Newcastle.” Charlie gained ABB in geography, economics and psychology. He has a place to study sport psychology at Loughborough University.
Another superb result was achieved by Sophie Howard, who achieved A*A*A in biology, maths and Spanish. Sophie has a place secured at the University of Sheffield to study biomedical science. She said: “I am surprised but very happy with my results.”
Daisy Wilson was equally thrilled this morning after being awarded AAA in politics, English literature and history. She has a place at the University of Nottingham to study history and politics. She said: “I can’t believe it. I am really looking forward to going to Nottingham.”
And finally, Poppy Moloney is also celebrating today after being awarded A*AB in sociology, politics and maths in her A levels. She has a place to study law at the University of Birmingham. She said: “I’m really excited for the future.”
