Throughout this year, the year 9 boys football team has represented Tuxford Academy with effort, determination, and commitment. In total, 18 year 9 students have represented the academy this year. They have made some fantastic memories and have shown real togetherness.
On Wednesday 20 June, the boys played in the final of the Mansfield Town cup and won the game! Well done to the players and staff who brought home the trophy to Tuxford Academy. Thanks also to everyone who came along to show their support in the evening at Mansfield Town, it really added to the positive atmosphere and we appreciate the support.
The season got off to a great start in the Mansfield Town Cup. We faced previous winners Selston in the first round winning 2-1, before beating Joseph Whittaker in Rainworth 2-0 in the following round. We completed our route to the final by travelling to Hucknall to face Holgate and win 2-0. This was made even more impressive as every game was played away from home.
Earlier in the year, the year 9 team also exited the Nottinghamshire County Cup against Chilwell after a 3-3 draw followed by a loss in a thrilling penalty shoot-out.
Congratulations also go to the year 11 team who were runners up in the final of the Mansfield Cup.
Next year, we hope to enter the English Schools competition in addition to the Nottinghamshire and Mansfield Cups.
Well done to everyone who represented Tuxford Academy and contributed to these amazing achievements. We are incredibly proud of the teams’ attitude and team work.
