Eight students from year 12 recently attended an enrichment day run by SUMS (Steps to University for Mathematical Students) at Nottingham University. This was event was specifically aimed at female year 12 maths students interested in studying maths or a closely related field at university.
“We found the AMSP SUMS Enrichment Day at Nottingham University an inspiring experience. During the session, we took part in solving maths problems with other students. It was great to work in a team of like-minded people. We also had the opportunity to listen to two female maths graduates who told us about their inspiring journeys through maths in secondary school, university and their current jobs. Finally, we took part in a Q&A with current maths university students. It was interesting to learn about the societies, accommodation and activities that Nottingham University has to offer, as well as their experiences as women in maths. Overall, it was a great day and we would recommend it to anyone considering studying maths at uni.”
