Tuxford Academy has proudly achieved the Rainbow Flag award, a national quality assurance framework recognising organisations that have decided to promote positive LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility among young people. This honour reflects the academy’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
Over the past year, Tuxford Academy has undertaken significant initiatives to develop polices and lessons to enhance LGBTQ+ inclusion across the academy. One of the key areas of focus have been the development of robust polices aimed at addressing the combating LGBT phobia within the school community. Including Pride celebrations, LGBTQ+ history month and Trans awareness week. These provide platforms for students to express themselves authentically and openly. By organising such events, the school fosters a sense of community and acceptance, encouraging students to embrace their individuality and celebrate their identities without fear of judgement or prejudice.
