The whole school will join together today for our Remembrance Day assemblies. Throughout the day, students from all year groups will attend the services led by Mr. Nichol, an experienced army veteran. Mr. Nichol will give a presentation and share his own fascinating personal experiences as well as lesser-known facts about historical wartime events.
This morning, students watched and participated in a presentation about Remembrance Day, with a welcome and bidding prayer by Revd. Alison Jones. The drama faculty post 16 students created a moving drama performance depicting a soldier leaving home to go to war. The service was attended by teaching and support staff and by Mr. Lancaster, chair of governors.
Students who are members of the Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps and other cadet or youth organisations, were invited to wear their uniforms for these special services where we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country and honour the armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
Thank you to Mr. Nichol, Reverend Alison Jones and Mr. Wilson (Drama faculty) for an inspiring and thought-provoking assembly.
