On Wednesday 5 February, post 16 art and photography students visited the National Portrait Gallery which included the fantastic and thought-provoking Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize 2025. The students and staff then ventured to Borough Market, where they sampled some yummy street food – including rice bowls, crumbles, the Tiktok famous chocolate covered strawberries, and even fresh ginger shots!
Later in the day, they walked along the River Thames to the iconic Tate Modern gallery, where the students got to see a vast array of art from around the world. Some students even met and chatted to the Artist Saleem Arif Quadri who took the time to talk to them about his work ‘Landscape of Longing’, which has been purchased for the Tate’s permanent collection, and how he created it! The students were thrilled to meet him and learn about his work. Saleem Arif Quadri has an MBE for his services to the Arts. The ultimate CIEAG experience for our students!
All in all, it was a really fantastic day, the students were a credit to the Academy. They left full of learning and inspiration with lots of ideas for their forthcoming art and photography exams.
