On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from representatives from two Oxbridge Colleges, Christine from Peterhouse (Cambridge) and Catriona from Magdalen College (Oxford).

We were given a presentation about how the college system worked at Oxbridge and how learning and teaching took place. They also discussed choosing a course, entry requirements and writing a personal statement for applications as well as the application process, which differs from other universities

Over forty year 11 and year 12 students, plus parents attended the event as well as students and parents form two other local schools.

Thank you to Christine and Catriona for an extremely interesting and informative session. The experience was invaluable for the students involved.

Here is some feedback from our students:

“I found the Oxbridge evening very interesting and enjoyable. Learning about how to structure a personal statement will be really useful when applying to university.”

Eryn

“I really enjoyed the Oxbridge talk last night-learning about the structure of personal statements and the tutorial/supervision style. Hearing from Ellie in Y13 was really inspiring too.”

Rowan

“I found the evening really informative and engaging. It gave me a great idea of what the application process will look like with the information on super- curriculars and the extra admissions requirements Oxbridge needs.”
