Yesterday, a hundred year 10 and year 11 students attended Poetry Live! at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham.
The event allowed our students to watch renowned poets including Carol Ann Duffy, John Agard and our current Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage perform their own poems before answering questions. There were also two examiner sessions with Chief Examiner, Tony Childs to provide our students with invaluable advice for their GCSEs.
For our year 11 students, it was a great chance to enhance the knowledge they already have of these poets, who feature in the GCSE Poetry Anthology, and for our year 10 students it was a delightful welcome to the world of GCSE poetry.
Our students made us proud and we all left buzzing after John Agard’s closing slot with his hilarious poem Put the Kettle On!
