On Tuesday 6 May, the year 11 students celebrated Smart Day in school.  The day is a celebration of the last five years at Tuxford Academy alongside fellow students, tutors, teachers and heads of year.

Our students came to school dressed in smart outfits and had an early lunch, followed by shirt signings and sweets in our outdoor space. This was followed by a leaver’s assembly in the hall where our Principal, Mr Hardy gave an opening speech and wished the students all the best in the future, whether they were returning to Tuxford post 16 centre or engaging in further study or apprenticeships.

Heads of year, Mrs Burr and Mrs Yates performed a poem they had written about year 11, wishing them the best of luck for the future. The tutors, teachers and support staff for year 11 also acted out a funny video of the things they won’t miss about the students, including kicking footballs onto the roof, not removing coats when asked, and the spinning of computer chairs!

Each form received video messages from their tutors and the students also had chance to create their own video messages.  The students enjoyed a slideshow of year 7 photographs and the teaching staff shared slideshows of school trips and events throughout the years.

It was a day of great celebration, marking the students final weeks in school. We would like this opportunity to wish students all the best in their upcoming GCSE examinations and wish them a bright and successful future.
