We have enjoyed welcoming all of the year 6 students who will be joining us in September to Tuxford Academy this week.  The four days have been filled with lessons to inspire and engage our new students, and the staff have had a great time getting to know everyone. The year 6 students have got to know the school building better and have had a snapshot into life as a student at Tuxford Academy.

In science, transition students conducted a rocket experiment in groups using specialist equipment, in modern languages students tried to find words for foods in various languages and in art, all students took part in the big draw on huge sheets of paper, working together.  Students from other year groups at the academy have also been supporting 6 transition students and welcoming them to the academy.

Today, on the last day of Transition Week, our staff from all faculties have organised a fun team building day to help students meet new friends and get to know their teachers.  Activities include giant Jenga, blindfold robots, hula hoop and tallest tower!

We hope that the students are looking forward to joining Tuxford Academy and that they have enjoyed their transition days.  We look forward to welcoming them in September.
