Tuxford Academy Chair of Governors Report | Autumn Term 2025
As we reach the end of term, governors would like to express their appreciation for the hard work of staff, students, and parent/carers throughout this year.
We said goodbye to one of our governors, Lyndsey Lee this term and wish her well in the future. Lyndsey did much to promote the role of a governor in her time with us. She built up strong relationships with governors and staff, through the many visits she made. We are in the process of appointing Lyndsey’s replacement in January 2026.
We have made several visits this term, in particular, looking at how effectively the academy runs its programme of tutor time each morning, a comprehensive review of Safeguarding and a general walk around during the day to observe behaviour in and out of class.
We have also scrutinised the exam results from last summer and focused on how the academy provides for those students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Alongside this, regular meetings with senior leaders and listening to students during our academy committee meetings, ensure we have a good understanding of the strengths and priorities for improvement.
We recognise and appreciate the vital role that parents/ carers fulfil in supporting students to do the best they can. We support the Academy Trust’s focus on improving attendance because ‘every day counts’!
We know staff continue to give generously of their time beyond the school day offering many trips and after school activities including sports fixtures, some of which take staff away from their families for several days.
Once again Performing Arts put on the amazing Christmas Showcases demonstrating ‘Excellence through Teamwork,’ involving students of all abilities.
Governors take concerns and complaints very seriously and always identify any leaning from these situations.
We wish you a peaceful and restful break over the festive period.
