On Wednesday 14 May, Mr Grand took eight year 12 students to a University of Lincoln Be Inspired event. The students took part in a lecture and two seminars linked to business, economics and accounting degrees. Students really discovered what university is like and some have aspirations to pursue business and economics related degrees.
Liberty, year 12 business and economics student said:
‘Visiting the Lincoln University Be Inspired Event was an engaging experience. We did three workshops which were interactive and gave a clear and in-depth overview of each course. The lecturers had an obvious passion for the subjects which has really inspired me into pursuing a business/economic/finance route. We also were able to speak to current students who were honest and enthusiastic about their experiences. They spoke positively about the supportive academic environment and approachable staff. The open day left me with a strong impression of Lincoln University as a uni that delivers a strong academic programme and invests in students’ success.’
Georgio, year 12 business and economics student, said:
‘Visiting Lincoln University for the business, accounting, and economics taster day was a great experience. The finance session in the morning was a good refresher on the basics of diversification and risk management, particularly with investing in the different types of assets. The economics workshop helped me see how theory applies to real-world businesses; and finally the session on sustainability in accounting really opened my eyes to how important ethical and environmental factors are in modern business. Overall, it gave me a better idea of what studying these subjects at a modern campus university such as Lincoln and I would recommend the trip to anyone considering any of those relevant subjects at undergraduate level.’
