The atmosphere was full of excitement this morning at Tuxford Academy, part of Diverse Academies Trust, as students gathered to open their long-awaited A level results.

Smiles, relief and a few happy tears marked the moment as they discovered the outcome of years of commitment and determination. Many are now preparing to take the next step into higher education, apprenticeships, employment or gap year experiences.

Overall, students achieved an A level pass rate of 98.3%, with 23% of students gaining grades equivalent to A* to A. The average grade for all students is a B.

One of this year’s top performers was Seth Green achieving A* in politics and history and A in psychology. He will be heading to Manchester University to study history and politics. Seth said: ‘I’m excited for the future and it’s a bonus to get into my first choice of university.”

Congratulations are also due to Georgia Cole after she achieved A* in geography, and grade A in sociology and BTEC criminology. Georgia said: “Thank you to the teachers.”

Seth Grayson celebrated this morning after gaining impressive grade A in maths, chemistry and physics. Seth said: ”I’d like to thank Mr Wray for being the best teacher.” Seth is going to study physics at Bristol University.

Further congratulations were in order for Idris Uddin, after achieving grade A in maths, chemistry and physics. He will be studying nuclear engineering at Lancaster University. Idris commented: “The teaching and support staff are very supportive, helpful and kind both in the good and bad times.”

Another superb result was achieved by Alex Dyer. He achieved grade A maths, further maths and computer science. Alex will be going to York University to study computer science and maths. Alex said: “This end is a new beginning.”

Reflecting on the results, Jon Hardy, principal, said: “This is a proud day for our academy and for every one of our students. The results are the outcome of sustained effort, determination and a positive approach to learning. I am delighted to see such a wide range of individual successes, each representing a personal story of ambition and perseverance.

“These achievements have been supported by the dedication of our teaching staff and the encouragement of families, and I thank them for their part in helping our young people reach this point. I wish all of our students the very best as they take their next steps into the future.”
