Physical Education & Healthy Lifestyles

The Physical Education Department supports the school's mission statement in 'Excellence Through Teamwork'. Physical Education contributes importantly to student development, spiritually, morally, culturally and most importantly physically.

The Physical Education department is proud of its many successes, which are achieved annually together with very good academic results and excellent participation rates in all year groups.

At Tuxford Academy the opportunity is provided for participation in a wide range of sporting activities but most importantly a healthy and active lifestyle is taught which will benefit students as they move through life.

The Physical Education Department offers excellent facilities boasting a well-equipped sports hall and gymnasium along with a hi-tech multi-gym. Outside facilities comprise of a full size astro-turf, tennis courts and, extensive playing fields.

There is a strong fixture-list for rugby (girls and boys), basketball, hockey, netball, football (girls and boys), and cricket. Many students also participate in other sports such as athletics and cross country. At Tuxford Academy, there is a strong emphasis on developing Leadership Skills through the use of Level 1 & 2 Sports Leadership Award, FA Junior Football Organisers Award, and The Dance Leaders Award.

These opportunities, coupled with enthusiastic and well-qualified staff, enable all students to have the best possible learning conditions available to them. Students showing exceptional talent in a particular sport are given guidance and support in their development and strong links have been established with local clubs in order that such students can realise their full potential.
